Or like i did, upgraded to an AP2 radio (01 radio sucks),Got some speakers from best buy,i tested almost all of them looking for the best sound/price, and put some 4" behind the seats in the lower panel. Its good enough for me and i can hear top up or down just fine, and get to keep the dash controls.I spent $150 on all i mentioned above

There are parts guys and there are parts guys. There is a certain intellect required to be good at it. Speaking as an old parts guy.........

You have already been provided information as to a pair of speakers that will fit into the OEM baskets as well as the cost of replacement baskets if necessary. Speakers however are only 1/3 of your problem. If you want a bit more sound, you will need to purchase a better head unit and that's the bottom line. The laws of physics do not cease because you want to maintain Honda OEM equipment.

like you i dont want to cut the plastic for any reason.

i did however add roll hoop speakers through some guy in eugene oregon. he makes the templates and sells em. they are poormans s-pods. they were like 65 shipped and of decent quality.

Also if you dont want to cut but do want speakers in that panel. you could buy a second set of panels, normally can be had for under 35 shipped, and cut those while keeping your originals.

What effect does cutting the basket have?

Mine don't sit completely flush. I was hesitant to totally massacre the basket.
