is the rod not long enough or the tie bar not the right shape, either way im sure you can find all the necessary replacement hardware at you local home center.

The Tue bar isn't big enough and the battery itself is wider then the battery tray

you can remove the battery tray and trim the lip to allow it to fit a wider battery, then bend a new battery tie down out of thin flat steel bar.

I have Yellow Top (the big one) You need to get a new battery tray kit at the auto parts store.

Then you need to cut it just right so it fits like this:

Once you have it all cut to fit, drill out holes to use the factory mounting bolts as shown above. Its does fit, but its tight:

I purchase a DC battery tie down made for Honda Preludes and flipped it over and it fit perfectly....

The smaller Optima batteries just don't seem to last as long as a regular size. I had mine for almost 8 years before it needed replacing... and I have a sound system that would drain that thing down in an hour or so... and we could just jump it and it would just keep right on going. In this case bigger is better.

Nothing wrong with that. For a long time Optima had a huge problem with the smaller versions of there batteries made to fit Honda's... maybe they finally fix it
