Ditto on the cost.
Well, the perfect soundstage is a JOKE in a convertable. The key to a useable audio system is to be able to hear it at speed. Am I going to win any audio shows with my car? No way. Can I hear the radio at speed, yep.
The HU puts out four channels of sound. If you are only using two them, you are only getting half the available power. Perhaps mounting a second set of FRONT speakers would offer a better soundstage, but the fact is there is no kit to do that. There are only kits to add speakers to the rear.
If you have not heard the rear speaker setup in an actual car, then how can you comment on how well they sound?

That is retarded. I added the S-Pods after I swapped the doors with some better comp speakers and in my opinion it does add to the sound stage. I think it adds a level of balance and I can hear it at high speed with the top down. That was my main purpose and it was achieved.

No i can not say i have listenened to an S2000 with rear speakers
Ruckus,
If you have never listened to an S with rear speakers, then making the comments that you have is just ignorant, and unconstructive! Prior to installing the Spods, I could not hear any highs from my stereo with the top down while driving.
Now with the Spods, I hear no road noise, traffic or wind noise, only clean sound from an awesome system. I agree that if you faded all of the power to the left rear channel, it would probably sound like crap, but I think most people on this board are intelligent enough to know that you would want the majority of the power faded to the front, and know how to use their fader control to improve imaging. Also, some of the Alpine HU's have time correction, which can also dramatically improve the sound imaging.
After 10 years in the business, I hope that you would give your customers an objective opinion based on personal knowledge, rather than deceive them with your subjective opinion on a product that you have no personal experience.
For those of you that are considering rear speakers in your S, let me tell you MY objective opinion from personal experience. If you want to hear your system while driving with your top down, the best investment you can make is in rear speakers, and I highly recommend the Spods. The Spods were clearly the best investment made in my system!

Okay, that's all great audiophiles.
So, how does one wire speakers in mono. Can you do it with the stock HU.
Also, can someone recommend a CrossOver that'll fit close the the HU that takes line level inputs.
Don't need anything audiophile class, just something that has an adjustable freq. High pass x-over for the fronts and the same for a low-pass for the sub.

as i've said before -- this is something that will most likely be impossible to do with only a stock or aftermarket headunit.
please check out those other threads, as in each one i've detailed the how and why you'd do this, as well as covered the need for an outboard amp.
and please restate what you're wanting in your crossover question... i think i see what you're asking, but i'd like clarification.
OK fine i'll leave it at that, if you guys are happy with a one channel speaker fireing at the back of your head, and think you have a sound stage then fine, each to there own.
BTW i'm not a pro StknCaS2k although i have installed a few systems for people, i dont do it for a living. And any advice i give is based on knowledge i have gained in the last 10 years and on the infomation gleaned from some of the most knowledgeable people in this field in the UK.
I havnt heard rear speakers in a S2000, but i have in a MGF and again the owner thought is was wicked and so loud, To me it was just Sound, no image no stage.
I have a GT and i will be doing IASCA with my setup next year, we will see if they say it needs a speaker at the back of my head...
