I've completed installing my head unit - the MP70.
It worked like a charm - Used the existing OEM brackets with the supplied screws from Sony. To mount the face plate brackets, I used two tiny machine screws (NOT supplied) in the top and bottom holes instead of the large center screw (this would have interfered with the stock bracket). Unfortunately, I forgot to tke pix of that part, but its obvious.
Anyway, the flip-down faceplate hits the two knobs - therefore requires some creativity. At first I simply cut out the existing plastice with 4 "semi circles" but it pretty much looks like ass. Instead, I pulled the plastic insert out (carefully - Its glued in) and replaced it with a custome rubber liner I devised myself. Anyway, here they are:
Flip-down panel in the fully upright and locked position (with the Sony detachable faceplate on) - Note nothing special here - just like we want it:
Flip-down panel in the "down" position - You can see my rubber insert here:
CD tray out - Gear is in "5th" - The tray will NOT contact the shift knob in any gear.
same as above, other view
Sony faceplate off - note the supplied Sony bezel fits perfectly with the OEM trim
Close-up view of above
Stock insert with cut out holes . . . . personally don't like
nice install and do your dash controlls like by the steerin wheel still work without hesitation
Nice i was thinkin about that deck also
thanks for postin pics
Hmm... that sucks you have to cut away a bit of the door for the knobs to fit in there... Good job on the rubber insert.

1) s2kman makes a programable hardwired unit that is compatible with all late-model Sony head units - https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=35196
(Not sure if those are still available)
2) Lucid sells a generic Infrared Unit that is compatible with any deck that has an IR remote (the Sony unit does)
Personally, I'm waiting on delivery of option 1 above.
