It was installed by a JL shop and they do add their own warranty to the work as well.

I checked the manual this morning and it says that this is "not a recommended" way to mount the amp but does not mention that it could void the warranty. I am going to ask the shop about this anyway just to see what they have to say about it. I'd rather not find out that it's a problem on a hot summer day the hard way.

My main issue with the mounting is that you can't really access the gain/filter/etc controls.

If its small enough, you could just mount it on a board on the back wall of the trunk - this is relatively out of the way of everything, dissipates heat fine, and lets me play with the controls if needed.

I wanted to hide it well, but I think that would be best. There is a board back there to drill holes?? Cool! Just thought its only the carpet. Good to know
