Default Stereo Upgrade..Next Steps?

I have:
OEM Head Unit,
Alpine SPR-176A 6.25 inch speakers in the roll hoops.
Apline SPR-136A 5.25 inch speakers in the door panels
Archo 6gig Jukebox

My next steps:

Head Unit upgrade:
I'm interested a hard drive based HU so I can get rid of my Archos and still have all my MP3s available to me. What about the HDA-5460 from Alpine? Does anyone have experience with this HU?

Amp - No Clue
Sub - Considering Laurents in the Trunk for space saving reasons

Budget $1500.00

Suggestions?

The HDA-5460 isn't necessarily a good idea as a completely standalone HU IMO, because there's no CD player or the sound customization.

If you want an Alpine HU, you could go the HU / Ipod Interface route and be able to store more music and the ability to take w/ you and quick sync right with your computer.

I did some additional research on the HDA-5460. The more I read, the less I like.
I guess I'll be sticking with my Archos for a while longer. Like you said, the archos/Ipod provides for portable music.

Thanks for the input.
