The stock stereo can only play discs burned as Audio CD's, maybe the CD's you've been burning have been in the data format? Aftermarket players can play the data mp3 discs as they can read them, where as the OEM player cannot.

 

The 07 manual says "This stereo will not play CD-R or CD-RW"
but it does!

 

If it only plays a few song before shutting down and it's hot as hell, the unit is overheating and kicking into safety mode. You need a replacement.

My 06 plays them just fine. Are you asking about MP3 cd's or just regular CD's (burned)?. If you just copy over a bunch of MP3's, no it will definitely not play them. Burned audio CD's should work just fine though. Media does make a difference.

Im not sure that this is the problem....but often times, when CD players dont want to play burnt CDs, the solution is simple.....burn them slower (12X)
