I'm planning on installing my stereo from my old car into the s2k. My old car was a Tahoe, so I had plenty of room. Now I am looking for help saving valuable trunk space.

I really don't want to spend much money as I already have pretty much everything I should need. I have 2 Infinity Kappa Perfect 12.1s, an MTX 6500D amp, and all the wiring. I plan on selling 1 of the subs and using the money to get Lucid's DCI for my Alpine CDA-7893 headunit.

So here are my questions... Sorry, but I have a lot. Ahy help is great

1)The power cables are really thick, either 2 gauge or 4 gauge, Im not sure. Whats the best way to get cables from the front of the car to the back of the car? Is there room under the door sills? and if so how do I remove them to get the wires under.

2)The sub only requires 1 cubic foot of airspace in a sealed enclosure. Is the trunk hole my only option? What do most people do with the tools? Will my amp fit also? Or could I install the amp underneath the convertible top somewhere?

3) The middle trunk hole is a very irregular shape. Anyone have pics of their boxes outside the hole, or a description of how they fit?

4) I was thinking of mounting the sub inverted so that I would not have to remove the jack and tools. I could use the width and length of the area to get my cubic foot of airspace, as depth would not be needed. Anyone try this?

5) Would I be better off selling both 12"s and getting something smaller? I can't stand rattles, and I want smooth clean bass.

1. amp install guide

2. do a little searching. there are slews of different setups and install configurations. here are a few that i found quickly by just searching 'sub' 'amp':

3. hopefully this will answer some questions.

4. http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/view...d=260688&page=5

5. depends on if you want to retain use of the spare and how much trunk room you'd like to keep.

the search isn't the greatest for finding specific threads, but is quite useful for general questions.

Thanks PJK3, your links helped me in the right direction.

Amp instal guide will come in very useful for wiring and I definitely like b0mbrman's plans for his 12" sub in this post https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...threadid=112517

Looks like the inverted style took up that entire trunk. Defnitely rules that out for me. No way a set of clubs would go in there

Right now I'm thinking I will probably go with b0mbrman's first drawing as it looks like it would give me the perfect amount of air space for my sub and then I will put the tools and the jack inside the spare tire. I will try to see if the amp will fit above the gas tank or under a seat.

i tried the amp above the gas tank thing... and had some heat problems in the process... it's quite tight in there and w/ minimal circulation. my amp did alright since it was fan cooled, but it wasn't the best solution.

you might want to talk to WLaurent, as he has a JL 500/1 mounted somehow behind his passenger seat (never saw pics). not to mention, there are more than a few people who mounted amps on the back wall, to the left of the spare tire.

Check out the thread I started, Vertical Mounting of Amp In Trunk. Soon, I will be posting some shots of my new install there.... Assuming I can ever connect with the installer. If I don't hear from him this week, I will be looking for a new one.
