Ok, still trying to get a sub inside the cabin - I'd love to mount my sub under the driver's dash, but it looks like way too much $$$ to get done. I did see today something that intrigues me - its a custom box, almost flat, with a sub that can get by with little volume.
It basically looked like this:
It was a Solobarics L7 run through 350W in a full king cab Ford truck - no space behind the seats like the S - and it sounded good. Provided I can live without 6" of passenger seat travel, does anyone think this is doable? I was thinking of running an L5 for the same purpose, but I'm open to sub suggestions...
Figured I'd bring this up for discussion. Thanks for all your input,
Sure you can put it back there... I just hope all your friends are 4 feet tall You better off just putting it in the trunk. Anything that's worth its weight that would work well in the cabin will require a fair amount of $$$. Its not like your trying to listen to the highs from the trunk... its bass tones... and the trunk is vented right into the cabin. You could do a footwell install, a custom center console, subs under the seat,... and so on.
hmmm, my girlfriend is only 5'3" and 95lbs, she could probably get by with less leg room not to mention she's the only person that ever rides in the S.
i was wondering about a simple JL 6W-0, they are only 3.5" deep or so?

I used to use my gf as an excuse, Now I have nothing to say anyore. there is no gf =P
Haha, one of the reasons I got a two seater convertible was not to drive all my friends around. What's one less passenger? Maybe I could get a box that I could move between the cabin and trunk depending on which area needed the space - person or bags.
I'll probably go with Laurent's box though, its not like I have to fight through sound deadening in the S. DK1999 makes some good points.
Well you could I suppose but you would have to build the panel out a lot. Here's a picture of the space behind those panels... there insist very much room. I fit a set of Alpine SPX-137a's back there but I had to cut some of the metal away just to make those fit...
I have more but this picture pretty much tells the story... your not going to fit much back there unless you do some custom work.
