For a bit of a chronological history of my audio upgrade go to my Audio Upgrade page.
From my initial desire for new speakers I ended up with a new head (with Pinky's Audio Controller), changer, amp, and Neo MP3 player. It gets addictive .

I added Infinity 6.5" coaxials and a 35W/ch amp connected to the stock head unit with a line conveter (converts to high level speaker output wires to a low level input for the amp). The whole business cost $350 and I did the installation. The sound is vastly superior to stock, and much better than the upgraded speakers being driven by the factory head unit alone.
