V1 can i add a led to the remote display
Hey guys,
Have my V1 remote display up on the dash and i just added a gauge pod that came with a red led. that the former owner used the led with his alarm -
wondering if there is any way i could splice into the wires that feed the remote display to light up the led in my pod - (it would work great cause its right at eye leval) off the led in the pod are two wires
Thanks
Steve

You can put the LED in parallel with one of the V1 LEDs and hope their specs are pretty close (if not, one will hog most of the current and look bright while the other is dim). Downside is you're sharing the same current between the two LEDs, so neither will be as bright as the original.
Or you can desolder one LED and put the new one in series. Unless you lower the series resistor as well, both will be very dim, IF they light up at all.
Either way, you'll probably want someone else doing the solder work... those solder guns from Radio Smack aren't going to do delicate work.

Thanks Dan!!
What i was going for was somehow to be able to splice into the remote display's phone cord as i really didn't want to hack up the V1 because we both know that would be the end of it
btw a big
to Merri!!
