Valentine 1 Mount question: Which is better -- Visor or Windshield?
I'm new to the radar detector game, and bought a V1 based on comments from this site and the Car&Driver test. I'm preparing for a 1,500 mile or so road trip, and am looking for insights on where to mount it. While I admire the stealth installs that people have shared on this site,
but I'm going to keep it pretty basic.
I'm having my car audio installer hardwire the unit for placement to the right of the rearview mirror. I have two options: suction cups on the windshield or visor-mount. I'm betting that one of these is clearly superior. Does anyone have strong pros/cons about either of these mounting locations?
Thanks!

The suction cups are better since our visor is angled so much.
I use suction cups so I can aim the radar detector straight out versus a 30 degree angle down and cut off by the pillar.
Test it out.

XViper,
That's a nice, clean solution, but it looks like a lot of work. How long did it take to complete? Have you thought about making a bunch and selling them to fellow members? I can think of one person who'd probably buy one.

And no, I don't market any of the stuff I make from my tinkerings but I will advise anyone who is interested in doing their own. I did this mount primarily because suction cups don't hold too well @ -20*C and colder (like -37*C
). (I can't even find any brass monkeys willing to hold the thing for me.)
I just place the visor holder onto the BACK of the visor instead of the front, and the visor seems to hold the horizontal position just fine. My V1 points straight out the windshield without any adjustment after riding bumpy roads. The downside is, I can't use the visor itself when there is sun in my face...
