This is my 3rd S2000...I have owned an 00, an 01 and now am the proud owner of an 04'. The transformation begins...I picked her up on Thursday...that same day I had my windows tinted. Friday I order my S badges and smoked lenses and removed all Honda and S2000 emblems (hurry up Rick!!! - I have holes everywhere )
That being said, I will be able to get the top down here pretty soon as my tint should be nice and dry.... but...oh, the sound... I can't play my favorite tunes!!!!
So I have a 12' inch sub that I picked up along with a 720W amp. That should more than 2 the trick. I will post some pics today as we move along with the process. I am going to try to get both the S2000 and the STi done today...we will start at 1pm sharp and 7pm is our ETA of completion...wish me luck.
First the amp will power both the door speakers (they will be replaced by som Polk Audio's I had laying around (no idea which car they came from but they are the right size). The rest of the juice will go to the back to move the 12" sub that will be installed via a flush panel on the spare tire compartment.
Cheers!
I found these 2 pictures of the 2 previous setups...first 2 8" JL Audios and then 2 10" Mugen subs (yes, they are Mugen...I put a sticker that said Mugen therefore there are Mugen in my world...deal with it!)
The project is complete...it took us 4 hours just for the S2000...the STi will have to wait until Wednesday - don't want to overdo it as then it is when we start getting shYtty work done.
I don't have my card reader with me: it is at the office so the pics will have to wait until tomorrow.
I took it for a spin and thank goodness!!! :-)
We ran into a little engine noise problem at the end but a couple of extra grounds took care of it
well here are the pics...have to say, if you decide to do this, make sure you go with 2 10" subs instead of a 12....they hit harder...the 12 is plenty bass, but the 10's seemed to hit better...imo.

Tighter low end with less "woof"
low end isnt suppose to be tight, low end is for impact and rumble, the lower you go, the less bass you hear. most people cannot hear under 25hz but can feel it.
woof can be from a number of things. box leakage, if the box is ported, most likely, it is the chuffing sound the ports make or a sorry ass woofer.
if you have a great sub with a nice box, any size can sound good.
i urge you to demo a 15" focal 38wx in a box designed for that woofer, and i bet you, in your own words, it is "tighter" than a lot of 10" woofer you know of.

I bet you are absolutely correct...keep in mind I am limited to the air space I have in the well and it is really not an "enclosure", just a panel added...in this case scenario, the 2 tens that I had worked better than a single 12...that is all I am saying dawg!
