Default wiring help

Is it better the ground your amps directly to the battery or just to the chassis? I've been grounding to the chassis in my previous installs and have had no problems. But I've read it's better to ground at the battery. What are the pros/cons?
TIA.

Your ground should be as short as possible. Use a stock chassis bolt if possible. Just back it out install your ring terminal and reinstall the bolt. Make sure that it make a clean connection. You may need to remove the paint and primer that is under the bolt.

Grounding at the battery is a waste of wire unless your amp is sitting inside the engine compartment (which is probably isn't). Also, make sure your ground wire is the same gauge as the power wire and you will be all set.

Thanks! I thought it was weird when the article suggested grounding to the battery.
