I was looking to get EMS V2, but came across that... and it's very interesting . I'm in the process of building a race car and majority of the OEM harnesses will be removed, so I was wondering what would be the best way to run the Infinity ECU. For simplicity, would rewiring OEM harness and using the PNP be the best option or maybe starting with a universal harness? ...unless it'd be better to just run the good and tested V2?

There is no good reason to run a v2 over an infinity. Infinity is more than proven. Its been in use for a few years now.

If you don't have use for the factory harness then I'd recommend building a new harness that plugs directly into the infinity with out the jumper

Do you guys think it's worth upgrading a aem ems v1 to an infinity? What is the going cost for one looks like around $1400 or so maybe $600 more after selling my v1. I maybe rebuilding my engine and it's for a turbo application just debating if the benefits will out weigh the cost

If you have a local tuner who is familiar with infinity then it is worth it for sure, but remember that no matter what ecu you have, if no one can tune it it's worthless

So it's not quite as much as I had hoped but I still think it's a worthwhile investment. 9 hp peak gain but the power band is a lot more linear and I picked up a good bit on the bottom end. My mods are just exhaust and HFC.

Ya that's the issue I have being in the middle of no where. I am wondering if the tune I had caused my current motor to let go or if it was bound to happen. Does the infinity have better safe guards for the motor? If I do need to get my motor built which hopefully will be you doing it I would probably need a tune in which case may as well upgrade to an infinity for long term benefits and flex fuel option is my thinking. I can't believe how much has changed for our cars since 2008 when I first got my car turboed and tuned.

So here's my update after picking up the car and driving it for myself for over an hour on my way home. First, the shop told me that it may not start on the first or even third crank because the car isn't communicating with the ECU. They went over the start up settings and everything and think that it may be a relay in the harness. Sure enough, I tried starting it and it didn't start until the 4th time. I called the vendor and they're going to get a hold of AEM to see if I can get a replacement.

On the road I could tell that the nature of the car has changed dramatically. The VTEC punch at 6K is gone and in its place is a nice smooth power increase. The tuner brought the VTEC engagement down to 5500 but honestly, I really couldn't even tell when VTEC came on. The most noticeable difference was the torque increase beyond 4K. It doesn't get bogged down as badly as it used to be. I tried a passing maneuver at around 3K and the power came on more readily than before.

One bad thing I did notice however was that when I was just cruising at low speeds, I would feel a brief power drop every minute or so. I'll have to do more driving to pinpoint the exact conditions that is causing this because I didn't feel it on the highway at the same RPMs.

Overall, I'm going to withhold judgement on the Infinity until I get more time behind the wheel. The price is comparable to other top tier EMS and you're always going to go through some teething pains with any tune no matter what the price. Is it worth the $1600 for 10 hp? Certainly not but this puts me on the path to go FI and there's no way to get there without getting an aftermarket ECU at least for AP1s.

I have 3 friends that run AEM Ecus (2 series 1 and 1 seres 2) on EK9 civics with aem coil on plug and all of them have this issues with starting up. What they are doing now is turning the key to ON, then back at off and then tunring it again to on and starting the engine and it would start from the first crank. Give it a shot
