I don't know that I want to deal with mine right now, I fixed my 99 Si box when I broke a countershaft, but I don't have some of the required tools, plus the way they sell gearsets, I don't want to spend big money on it. If I can find another tranny, I can rebuild the one I have currently at my leisure, or most likely this winter.

Sounds like an issue with 1st gear synchro, with possibly something stuck in it. With the engine off, try shifting the gear lever from 1st to 2nd 50-100 times. This may help remove whatever is stuck in the teeth on the 1st gear synchro. This helped when I was having an issue getting into gear. Definitely give this a shot before you pull the whole tranny out.
