hey now just because im amazing at downshifting and shifting fast doesn't mean you have to hate... and fyi if i downshifted i did it to speed up .. even if it was +3mph LOL
Well that's a given... you drive an AP1. Any kind of speeding up requires a downshift of at least 2 gears...

reason I ask is, with the added power, would it hurt the diff even more over stock. I DO NOT launch my car, but do occasional roll on's.

Adding power puts more stress on all your drivetrain components. And depending on what the weakest link is... that is what is going to break first.

I think with the CDV you are sacrificing life of the clutch for reduced shock in the drive train. The only person I know with that much power in an AP2 with the CDV is Reborn56 (500whp); he doesn't seem to mind it.

On the other hand, Soul Coughing has about 400whp in his car and Minitoyota has about 400whp as well and they do no have CDVs. They haven't had problems with their differential and they do drive their cars hard. I only have 300whp or so and I took my CDV out. I do not launch either but do some hard/ quick shifting from time to time.

Is there added strain on the driveline/ diff? I am sure there is, but unfortunately we can't quantify how much we are reducing the life of the diff. To me, the removal of the CDV was worth the chance of reduce diff life. I do have a comptech reinforced diff but I don't know if that counts much.

Another way to ask your question is how many AP1s have suffered diff failure with 400whp

I don't notice the "lag" when shifting at redline, but when I'm shifting FAST around 4~5k, I can definately feel the lag. just wanted to know what most of you guys are doing.

If you drive smoothly, you should have no problem.
