The difference between shifting a tremec and an S2k trans with PPG gears is like night and day. The tremec would feel like you are rowing a boat compared.

Oh no its expensive when speaking about it , but ppg im seeing is the only good way . Some frankstien tremec that really is not tested in our cars doesnt sound like a better option . I would rather spend the money on a purpose built transmission that could hold everything I throw at it , but no company is going to build one for a car that so few drag race for very cheap.
Purpose built transmission?
well you're right.
But doesn't everything go through a test, QA, then production state, just like PPG did?

And momentum lol, yeah I forgot the synchros, throw another (don't even know) 5K? Totaling almost 15K. Still no tranny together. You now have to put it together.

And boostedf22c, the numbers you see I posted, those numbers are the numbers I got about 8 months ago or so. Those are the numbers I got. If they are underpriced, well then that's good, I'll take 'em

And yeah theres a whole bunch of stuff missing which I didn't finish researching.

Explain exactly your comparison here. I haven't rowed a boat in a while, neither have I shifted a PPG trans lol.

This thread was created to gauge interest on a cheaper solution for a replacement gear set.

Obviously when you start talking adapter plates, different trans, etc. the options are endless, and expensive .

You could do the same comparison with a stock mustang and s2000. Go drive both, and tell me which trans feels better.

LOL true and let the thread be, however the PPG setup starts out very expensive already lol

EDIT: The poster does state this: "I was having a discussion with someone a few days ago about a transmission solution for the s2000 platform"

Soo it doesn't hurt to throw other possible solutions as well

To be quite honest the mustang feels better at this point. My s2k trans is broken.

That is what I would like . PPG could do something for the community and still come out on top money wise. At that price you would have to imagine the s2000 gear set they did R&D on are not flying out the door. A vendor gets the price dropped enough for people to purchase these things with a clear conscience and they might make some money.

Im open to any new ideas venomous I just remember friends with there 5.0 and tko trannys. They where good but not great , but if someone could get one to drop into my car for a good price I would prob get the old credit card out and go with it.
