F20C Crankshaft Key
#3
I just put mine back together and had the same problem.
I just put the key in as far as I could, put the crank pulley over it, then slowly tightened the crank pulley down. This pushed the key into place, no issues.

I'm willing to bet that once you torque the pulley down, it'll push the key the rest of the way in and jam it up on the chamfers to hold the other sprockets much tighter. It's probably the way it's designed to work. Did you try lightly tapping it in further before putting the pulley on just to see what happens?

Looks backwards. Mine had the tapered end towards the crank end. That was from Honda. Think about it, you want the non tapered in where it's supposed to hold the gears and pulley, not the tapered end. Yours is wrong trust me.

After looking at the helms, it shows the tapered end inwards like you have it. Weird cause mine definitely came out tapered end out lol. Mine is a 2008 motor and this is the 2000-2005 helms not that it should matter.
