Ferrea beehive spring Ti retainer install
#21
More pictures of the install. Took me two 1/2 weeks to get my bolt from Majestic..
What is needed to complete the install:
Use a dead blow hammer to release the keepers into the magnetic tool
Difference between the beehive and stock valve spring, retainer and seat
Valve seals on the valve stems
tap it in with a socket
Uncompressed beehive springs, retainer and keepers ready to be pushed in.
Compress the spring with the tool to lock the keepers onto the valve stem. Need about 1000lb gorilla to push down the tool to lock the keepers. Ended up with a two man job where I hold steady the tool onto the retainer and the second person hitting the tool with a dead blow hammer. Took the hood off to have better access. Also, the spring is compressed down a couple times to make sure the valve stem is aligned with the retainer before the dead blow hammer.
What it should look like and should not. Took many tries to get the keepers locked.
The obligatory 10K RPM rev with the Ferrea beehive springs and reatiners....Ptuning kit, 91oct, street tuned, virtual dyno.

You guys need to pick up the proper tools for these heads. Beating them in with a hammer is rediculous. Get the tool form kings or off of ebay. kings performance valve spring tool This tool is also sold on Ebay under the Eurosport brand name but its the same tool. Go's for about 75$ on there. Works beautifully, and can be used with the intake installed if you grind about a 1/16 off the bottom edge on the back side.
