Default Head Removal Question

I am trying to follow the manual to remove the Head, and there is a step on page 6-26 step 12. I am trying to understand why this needs removed.... Looks near impossible to get to that, and does not look like any of those hoses on the water outlet cover go to the head??? If they do, how the heck do you access it??? Looked hard, even from below.

Any suggestions here?

That guy didn't remove it. Keep pushing ahead and keep an eye on it.

That is pretty much my plan, I was using that guide and the manual. Although now I am having an issue with the chain tensioner. I have the correct size bolt but it doesn't seem to want to lock and take the tension off. It almost feels like it just slides past the threads. Just went to lowes and verified bolt is correct thread.

Just pull it out with care,
no need to bolt it up to take tension for removal

You don't need to retract it all the way. The bolt is just insurance so you don't drop the internals inside the engine.

Unbolt the intake manifold from the head, and leave all the vacuum lines attached. Once you pull the fuel rail, belt tensioner, alternator, rad hoses and some odds and ends, it can be unbolted saving you a good bit of time. Good luck with the exhaust manifold, you'll need new gaskets for both manifolds. I'd get a few new fasteners for the exhaust, unless by magic you got it off without issue.
