This s2k crowd seems much too whiney about the smallest *side effects* to their power mods....

I don't mind a little noise, but my concern was whether the increase in noise foreshadowed pump failure.

The high flow pumps tend to be noisy which is normal, I try not to run my cars on low. A pump is a simple DC motor that is constantly on and generates heat, it has no way of cooling itself. The fuel is the only source that it has to dissipate the heat. The high flow pumps require more amperage which again contributes to generating more heat compared to a stock unit. As your fuel level gets lower the pump has to work harder to keep the line pressure at a desirable level, the higher fuel level in the tank will keep the pump at cooler temperatures and can also help dampen the noise.

...whiney or concerned?

Fuel pump is one of those things I recommend being whiney about rather then calling your friend for a tow later that evening on the way home from your drive.... Don't you think?

OH AND THE POST ABOVE IS RIGHT ON THE MONEY...ive found exactly those points to be true on my 255.
