Oh, and btw, any driver worth his salt will disagree with your "Usable power is what wins in this world"... driver skill will dominate an extra 9 ft. lbs. of torque any day of the week.

OP, both are great cars. They have characteristics that make each suited for slightly different conditions, but I'm sure you will be happy with whatever you choose. Good luck!

02+ will ensure that you avoid a lot of headaches.... Plastic window, oil jet bolts, etc...

to the OP....both engines are good FI'd and i would say AP1 coz its been a good starting flatform since its cheaper and its been out for a while....it all comes down to your budget coz with the right setup and specially tuning it will cost you if you do it right....as for the CAR itself both are different overall and thru the years honda has been perfecting it so there's always some issues from AP1's to AP2's from performance to looks and either way its an amazing car!....just do some reseach that would help a lot with your decision and this site has TONS of them!

I'm an AP1 lover until the day I die!!! Which, that day probably isn't too far away considering the way I drive. These damn old ladies around here don't understand they are driving on my race track!

The plastic windows on the 01 and older s2k's do kind of suck though.

Good luck on finding what's right for you!

I see nothing wrong with a well placed, civil, educated argument. It's better than the alternative, which is misinformation. It's when people get personal about it that things seem to get out of hand. Which is what happened...
