i have the same concern as crt. Although mase says this kit is designed for 100% stock engines, how about the rest of the drivetrain such as the differential? Did anybody with the mase kit reinforce differentials, axles, or lower compression to combat the added stress the drivetrain will receive due to such high power numbers. I wouldn't feel very comfortable using a differential that wasn't designed to cope with the monstrous numbers this kit puts out. if im wrong, someone please chime in

Again, really just depends how you drive. If your a 1/4 mile every weekend guy, then you will probably have issues. If you run it like a raped ape all the time...same thing. But then you can have those problems doing that and leaving the car stock.

No matter how you slice it, things break if you drive like every day is race day.

If you want a reliable street/track car. Go with Kraftwerks.

Did they ever beef up the welds or add bracing to the Mase manifold?

I can't find if/where spectacle posted this in the FI forum, but here's his thread in the Florida forum...

I was in this same predicament a while back. I finally made my decision and went with the KW kit. I DD my AP1 with the KW kit all day every day. Wanted something with a decent amount of power and most importantly reliability. 371 whp/221lb trq later which was actually tuned by mase himself and yeah, all I can say is I'm pretty damn happy! And by the way, I have over 140k miles on the car now with no issues (knock on wood). I don't have time to live under the hood of my car, I just drive that bitch! LOL

I don't own a Mase kit so I can't give any real advice on it, but if I were dead set on going turbo with my S, I would 100% go with the Mase kit and never look back.

they fixed the KW one so stop with the comment about all the problems. i would go for the Mase one. like they said MORE potential!! the KW kit is the max you are gonna get with that.

also people have broken diff with being N/A so is there a bigger chance to break your diff? depends if you do 8k rpm clutch drops. if you slip it you should be good. i personally got a puddymod diff because i like going to the track and launching the car.

Did you read what I wrote? The KITS WITH GODDARD'S PARTS HAD THE VAST MAJORITY OF THE PARTS FAILURES. Do I need to change the font size?
You are hilarious!!! Still talking smack as always.

The funny thing is, Jack (Goddard) finished his kit and it runs with zero issues.

Kraftwerks told Jack that no one but Rotrex could disassemble a Rotrex SC unit and put it back together but Rotrex themselves. It requires a special jig and process that only they have access to. Well, there's a guy in Texas (I forget his company) that rebuilds them and he took Jacks apart, cryo treated it and rebuilt it. And the funny part is that it runs like a champ, so much for that theory. He runs a 90mm pulley all day everyday.

Please stop spreading FUD.

Your buddy,
Chris

I'm not going to speak for all KW owners like some other people that don't have the kit, but this is my experience.

My original (pre-revision) belt tensioner started making noise last July. Was replaced free of charge with the KW updated part. No issues since.

No other parts issues of any kind in one year and seven months and ~15,000 miles. It's exactly what I want for the car, a rough doubling of power with a powerband identical to stock.
I'll do the same....

I'm not going to speak for all KW owners like some other people that don't have the kit, but this is my experience.

I sold my kit before it started having issues cuz I saw too many people that I new personally have issues. I also sold it because while it had good HP it just left me wanting more.

One of those people is Don Webster, he has a 2007 with approx. 80,000 miles miles on the Kraftwerk high boost kit. He has gone through 2 tensioners. He was one one the first to report the original tensioner issue and then the newer model (replacement) tensioner went out as well. He's also lost 2 water pump pulleys. He carries a spare belt, tensioner and water pump pulley in his trnk at all times. Ya, that's KW reliability at its finest.

BTW - reselling a KW kit is very hard these days. Look at how long Mother's was in the for sale section before it finally sold.

Just food for thought....

Almost done!

I couldn't use the standard kit, I had to go bigger, 3" down pipe, bigger turbo (forgot the model) dual fuel pumps (for the e85), new rear end, full built engine....yada yada.

It's gonna be FUN!

BTW - I jizzed in my pants when I saw the pics of your shielding! Beautiful! If you don't mind, PM me the info on it. I'm jealous!
