^ Yeah, the tune from HP Performance for the stock compression engine was idling at 10.9-11.2. I have been running on that tune daily driven since April, and have not had any issues with the plugs thus far, so I think they will make it another week-10 days til we can get to the dyno... I am running NGK3330 copper plugs.

He is out of town, so the AFR's will be addressed when he gets back.

As far as tuning, we are shooing for 11.5-11.8 under high load situations. He told me he does not feel comfortable going any higher than 12.0, because at that level a bad batch of gas could create some issues... This is a daily driven street car.

And this was one of the last engines built be Earl, himself, before he passed.

I hate to pop your bubble but Mike Laskey probably built your motor. Mike was doing all the building for a couple years before his dad passed away.

I think if you check you will find you have steel valve springs and titanium retainers.
I have not been able to find titanium valve springs for the S2000.

If you google ''titanium valve springs" you will get pages of steel springs with titanium retainers.

You are correct Sideways. I was writing all those posts above from my cell phone at work (off the top of my head). Work was SUPER boring yesterday... There was NO ONE in the office. Don't worry... Bubble still intact - It IS still a Laskey Engine afterall!

The springs are double steel, and the retainers are titanium. I am not sure if he opted for the bronze valve guides or not. I will have to check that when I swap the valve cover for the one I just had powdercoated (going from stock red to a flat-black).

And I am pretty sure it was Earl who built the engine. There is email correspondence between the initial buyer and Earl about the specs of the build, and Earl's progress. Mike may have helped, but I believe it was done by Earl himself, according to the emails. This engine was built in 2005...

Awesome man! I plan on doing a motor like this something in April time! I hope you get that tuned taken care of...Sadly with my tune, i run at solid 10.3 sometimes 10.0 at idle. No use in retuning during winter though! Good luck, hope to see some good numbers!

I am going to re-tune. I am then going to get it redone in the summer. I am going to be running 2 tunes, one for summer blend gas, and one for winter blend.

The subsequent tunes will not be as expensive, as the basics will already be laid out. Just need to adjust for temp, humidity, and gas make-up.

add the UEGO to your AEM setups (or get a 1052U) and have it run closed loop at least on idle and part throttle, perfect tuning all the time

I already have the 1052u. I get o2 readings real time through the serial gauges (I have not used a tailpipe sniffer yet).

I hope to see 450-500rwhp before the injectors max out (750cc).

since you've got the 1052U then set the O2 feedback table. once that's set the ECU will be able trim the fuel to able to keep the correct AF ratio. then once you get a decent tune the O2 will be able to correct for atmospheric changes and keep the AF ratio in check. unless you're making timing changes maybe that will keep you from having to run a winter tune and a summer tune, just run the one tune
