hmm..just making sure you have to have a aftermarket ecu or something to run this setup? also do the ap2 pistons have better oil flow over the ap1?

sooo you're boosting 12-13lbs around 400whp on crappy emanage and no re-tune for this setup? you may be rebuilding a lot sooner than you expected!

Im using an Emanage ultimate and I have the map sensor voltage clamped to max at 2.9 volts, which is ambient pressure, so the ecu should never see boost. However I think if the ecu sees voltage at idle or cruise is over a certain value it will throw a cel. The maual says it should only see around 1 volt at idle, and mine was reading around 1.5 volts.

Dsddcd I dont have the exact specs, but I think you should be around 10:1 if you machine off the domes. I will double check when I get home.

Ian3000d, if you are going to machine the domes of the piston, it really dosent matter what piston you use. After machining the only difference between the pistons is where the oiling holes. are.
I think he meant that the actual limit of the stock map sensor is around 10psi, and even up to that it is not terribly accurate. I would suggest the Greddy Pressure Sensor for the EMU..

Hey Artisan so the AEM is not OBD compliant (meaning it wont register actual PIDS or DTC's)? If so that sucks I was looking at picking one up. But either way thanks for the heads up. (that is useful info for me considering I live and breath by actual PIDS and 02 sensor feedback)

Wait I think I just answered my own question.... lol I forgot that stock PCM's run off of 02 sensor feedback for inj. pulse, and the Ign. runs off the CKP (VRS style) sensor. So PID data would actually be manual off of the DATA logger. Either way I would love to know if it will cause me to fail a smog check?

Hey Artisian has anyone checked to see how thick the piston dome is yet? I have set of mangled AP1 pistons that I could cut in half and measure?

I have a perfect spare AP1 engine that I wanted to build at some point (currently running a 2004 AP2 with Ultimate Racing kit) that I wouldnt mind machining the stock pistons on if we can confirm that the dome thickness is adequate....

Let me know

Omalley you might want to read the entire forum. I have already machined the pistons, dome thicknesses are on page 2.

Yea, the Aem ems does not have obd functionality on board. which I belive is a major disadvantage. I think it does have programable alarms you can set, but im not sure as I have never used an aem ems.

The obd system is an excellent tool for Na cars and imho a must for forced induction cars. If your running an aem and have sensors fail you may not know that they failed or why the car is running funny untill its too late.

This is a link to a fourm where a guy almost blew his motor because his aem ems did not warn him that his car was over heating.

If I had been using an aem I would not have seen the check engine light
about my map sensor going bad and would have been totaly baffled as to why my car was running like shit. Also, because I daily drive the S, I would never use a ems that does not support OBD functionality.

Hey I read it I know you machined the the pistons already but I thought you were unsure if the pistons domes were still going to be thick enough to withstand boost and last?
