Lol. Way to blow it!

The boom was the rev limiter when the clutch slipped. Hehe.

Car did good on pump and was starting to do good on racegas until the clutch started slipping.

Ps. I'm coming to cali in a few weeks. Mid august.

Okay, it was a LONG day. There were 6 cars that got tuned today and we went from 9:00 to 7:30 and I was doing nothing but running all day long.

Well the bad news is that the dyno we were on was not calibrated properly so the numbers really can't be compared to my old build but I had Mase stop the pump gas tune at 496 WHP on this dyno and as previously stated had to stop the race gas tune at 550ish b/c the clutch started slipping.

Mase started by checking the Map sensor calibration I had which was very close so we started tuning with the exhaust bolted up ie no cut out. This time I installed my factory Honda coils and we started to blow out spark at 16PSI with my BKR8EIX plugs gapped at around 0.027"-0.029". Per Inline Pro's recommendations I switched back to a 7 heat range and we had no issues with ignition from here on out. The great news for me was that the ignition system I built was not the problem last time it was the plugs. In fact the system I built held on longer than the factory COP.

After this Mase tuned it to around 16-18 PSI and then I removed the lower section of the downpipe to simulate a cutout b/c I did not have time to get mine installed. We tuned to 20-22PSI and called it a day with 91 oct pump gas. After that we only made a few pulls before the clutch decided it had enough.

The car still needs a bit of street tuning but the overall response is good and the power delivery is much sooner and smoother. Before you really had to rev the car to get power and now I can short shift and still be happy.

As for the clutch I am not going to change it, I like the modulation and the only clutchs that are going to hold are a twin disc or puck and I DONT want either. I am done unless I find something that will hold and have stock modulation. In fact I am thinking that the 5857 would have been a better choice after driving S2000442's (Daryl) tonight but I am happy.

Should have Dyno's and video to post tomorrow.

I would think that heat range 7 plugs would be too hot. I wonder why you were getting spark blowout at those boost levels? I had my BKR8EIX's gapped to around .032" at 29 psi and 650 whp on 110 race fuel and had no spark blowout. We did get blowout on 24 psi though with e85 but that went away when we gapped them to .023" and I'm on the AP1 coils. Be very careful running non-resistor plugs with this car, they can burn the coils up and Honda highly recommends not running them due to this and electrical problems that can arise.

I agree the heat range 7 is too hot. That is factory range. Eight or better yet 9 would be a better choice.

Is there a source for the information about non-resistor plugs burning the coils up?

Many of us are running non-resistor plugs.

Here you go.

I cant seem to find where it was that I read about non resistor spark plugs burning up coils but i know i read it somewhere. I'll have to keep looking.
