New supercharger kit

First things first - how does the Rotrex sound? The HKS Rotrex, because of its unique traction drive and the centrifugal design, is extremely quiet. Unlike other supercharger systems, the idle is very steady and silent, the pulleys / rollers make little to no additional noise or squeaks, nor does the supercharger produce a typical whine. You would not be able to tell that the vehicle is supercharged sitting next to a Rotrex

Just to make a few things clear. JR is still in the testing stages of the S2000 SC kit. Oscar Jackson is working together with Jardine and Doug Thorley Headers which is a real class act. They have some of the best R&D facilities around. I know that Jackson Racing is finished with the Honda Fit SC kits and are now taking deposits on them as they have all the testing and data done. I I just called there also and they are taking orders on the S2000. I think it's a few over zealous sales people at Thorley or Jardine that have made that decision because the S2000 SC kit is not ready yet. (You know the battle between usually ignorant sales people and good engineers. Most sales people don't know shit about what they sell and that is the case here so the sales at Thorley and Jardine will have to learn about SC from Jackson Racing, but that will come with time and training). I can tell you that I expect my S2000 to have much more torque starting at a much lower RPM then any of the current SC out there and will start pulling hard south of 4000 RPM (I'm hoping for around 2500 RPM). All the current SC for the S2000 have about a 4 to 1 ratio from the pulley to the turbine so they can't really start making power in the S2000 case till after 5000~6000 RPM and finally pulling hard in the 7000+ RPM.
Turbo's on S2000s can spin up to 150,000 RPM and can start spooling up and making boost at much lower RPMs therefore are able to make boost and power at much lower RPMs on the S2000. This new SC from JR has the best of both worlds. It has about a 13:1 ratio pulley to turbine so therefore can spool up and create boost at a much lower engine RPM but can spool up over 100,000 RPM so it can sustained a much more liner power curb starting at much lower RPMs and pull right up to the 9000 RPM Redline of the S2000. The reason I like it so much is because it gives you the throttle response of a very powerful NA engine but the HP of a boosted one but the best part is it starts pulling hard starting at much much lower RPMs. I can't tell you what HP or Torque numbers we will get but I expect the same % increases as they got in the Honda Fit.
Stock Honda Fit = 90 WHP
JR 10 Lb SC Fit = 155 WHP
This is about a 65% HP gain but the impressive part is they started making power (Torque) around 2000 RPM!
I expect that the testing should be complete on the S2000 sometime in Q1 of 2007 and kits should be available for sale sometime in late Q2 or early Q3 2007. For all of you that have called in and left deposits, I think you maybe getting a call in a week or so to clear things up. They are not ready to take deposits yet.
As many of you know I have a Sportech which is a street legal car that can pull 1.2+ G on a standard 212 ft skid pad, it also runs the 1/4 mile in the 11sec range. I have also given many of the people on the S2KI boards rides in a fixed up Porsche GT2. So you guys know I'm not new to fast cars, I'm also not easily impressed, I have been in many SC S2000s and have not been impressed yet till now. Oscar Jackson is on to something big. Another good thing that you guys are going to like about the JR SC kit is it should only take 2~3 hours to bolt on. This truly will be a bolt on kit. It will have it's own Oil system that comes with the kit so you don't have to tap into the oil system in the S2000. I'll keep you guys posted on the outcome of the JR S2KI SC.

so does the rotrex sc have pretty good low end?? will the kit be available for 06 and 07 as well?
billyjoho: I'm not asking this to offend you, but out of curiosity, how are you affliated with JR? You profess to know the inner workings there, but don't mention how you know.
By the way, JR didn't charge the credit card I gave them; just kept the number.

My Miata:
stock = 100 whp
Eaton M45 supercharger (Eaton = roots/twin-screw hybrid) at 9-10 psi = ~200 whp
This is about 100% power increase. No intercooler, with water injection
I have full boost any time I floor the accelerator. The boost curve is almost the same as the throttle curve. Any time I press the gas pedal to the floor I already have full boost (this is measured in the intake manifold close to the intake runners)
Here is a datalog of throttle vs boost vs rpm graph I logged few months ago. I was driving at around 3000 rpm and just pressed the throttle pedal all the way to the floor. Green is boost, blue is throttle. The full boost available is instant.
I am also reading about these rotrex blowers because all the hype nowadays. But from what I've read they still are not anything so much impressive to drool over. They sound like a better option over centrifugals of course. Probably the Rotrex could get close to the performance of the Eaton blowers (and IIRC there are already two such kits in development S2K - from BRP/SOT and from FFS). It will be interesting to see if the Rotrex will be match these and will it be possible to surpass them

Thanks for clarifying that. I'm surprised that Oscar (not sure if it's Sr. or Jr.) said in the SEMA video link above that the S2000 project has a goal for Christmas, but you say that it's more like Q2 or Q3. That's a big change in a week.
