I was going to make a thread about this, and I still might.

I was told to use SLX from Home Depot, it's in the paint department. It's basically denatured alcohol.

It's ~15.xx / gallon.

I'm not sure if I want to go 50/50 again, or go something else, 75/25.

 

I paid 35 for a 5 gallon jug of m1. Is slx better?

 

Home Depot has Denatured Alcohol in the paint section for $15 a gal. Whats the difference between this and SLX?

 

Im lazy so I do 8 Bottles of HEET with 1 Gallon of PEAK -20F

Also, I plan on running a few gallons of Xylene per tank this summer for 100 Octane. lil extra detonation suppresion, here is another great link where you can play around with mixtures to get a desired Octane level

Thats exactly what this stuff costs. To be honest, I do not know the difference.

It's what the guys @ coolingmist told me to run.

I said I use summitracing's boostjuice, and his response was ewwwww. I asked why, do you sell something, he said no. Then he told me about the SLX.

how much boost and timing up top were you guys able to gain with water meth injection? on a log manifold and gt30 sized turbo and up with STOCK motor and headgasket? I installed a coolingmist CMGS kit recently and currently boosting around 14.5 psi, with timing ramping up to 12.5-13 degrees up top. I would think i should be able to increase the timing some more along with boosting to about 17 psi? btw, i have a mase kit with electronic cutout and 5857 BB precision turbo.

i also did notice my knock volts dropped from 2.1 V being the max to now 1.5V.

 

I just figured id throw this info out since there is a lot of talk about going with higher mixtures of meth/water.... after reading all the print that came with coolingmists's injection kit (just the standard 1.5 gal trunk kit) I noticed it mentioned to never go past a 50/50 mix bc the higher concentration of meth will eat thru all the gaskets and cause the system to fail.

Does anyone have any more info on this bc if I can safely run my kit on 75/25 then I want to.... but I don't want to fubar everything else.

 

I didn't see that and don't believe it to be true.

The only thing I saw, and I have to double check, was the methanol to water mixture to either not exceed 50/50 or 70/30 due to damaging the flow sensor.

 

I think I'm gonna give coolingmist a call today and get their take on it to be safe. I really wanna get a higher concentration of meth than 50/50 but don't want to ruin my setup.
