ScienceofSpeed Supercharger System Updates
so here an update. i was worried my ecu was lost today cause hondata told me it would ship today. i went to my mail center and checked and they said nothing came for me. i kinda freaked out..but they told me fedex hadnt arrived yet. but i kinda ignored it cause i sent UPS and why would i get it back FedEx. but anyways i called again and got a tracking number and i got my ecu back like 10 minutes AFTER i left i mail center
since they close at 1pm for package pick up i have to wait until tommorow at 11am when they open. then i can install and do a leak and ops check. CANT WAIT!!!!!!! will post vids of first start and other stuff tommorow evening...

my system is installed. yay. too bad i dont get tuned till the end of the month
oh well, gives me time to work out the kinks (even though there are none!)
install was simple. everybody knows that. i have one problem with the manual, though - it states 14 hours of labor! are you nuts? collectively im thinking i did it in 4 - and i'm no master mechanic.
anyway, onto my review...
im very surprised to not have read about how loud this freaking thing is. i'm not bothered by it at all, but it's loud. the blower is loud. the water pump is loud. it sounds like i've installed a power wench and an aluminum can filled with rocks from the beach. the original novi1000 was loud but this thing is just straight up hilarious. i admit i was a little worried until i looked up some idle videos on youtube. now i'm just happy that my car sounds like an angry woodpecker. although i do wonder - are the motor oil-lubed chargers any quieter? again, i'm not upset, just curious.
i was also surprised to find that the upgraded heat exchanger is smaller in every dimension compared to the older spearco model. i wonder if the thinner design is better for cooling? its certainly much lighter and mounts a bit further back than the spearco, which is very nice. the SOS exchanger also has its water line nipples placed in the correct angles - not like the spearco which has them 180 degrees out of the way.
i thought about having my tuner send me a basemap before tuning, and then i had a revelation - keep the stock map, moron. just take the belt off!
i'm sure running around for a few hundred miles with the big snail just hanging out disconnected wont hurt anything - right chris? i'm sure it wont make for a hell of an n/a intake, but i can deal with that for a little bit. hey, at least now i have an aftercooled intake. sweet.
anyway, i really must say i love how easy it all is to install. coming from a bottom mount turbo setup i admit i loved installing the entire kit without having to jack the car up. i can still access everything i need to access for normal maintenance as well. oil filter is just as easy to get to. there is no clutter in the battery/fusebox/header area like i'm used to.
i am also extremely happy about the HONDA bolts/nuts/hardware that were included in my kit. what a wonderful and unexpected touch! OEM stuff is always the better option in my opinion and i was very happy to see nice shiny new bolts still in bags with my kit. the AEM dry flow was also a nice touch - that was something i was planning on doing from the start and now i dont have to.
seriously though, i didnt need any more teflon tape and thread lock
you guys rock.

I constantly get people pulling alongside me asking what exhaust I have because of the sound.
