i put that in for now till i figure everything out then im putting in the good stuff. i decided to go with 10w40 royal purple.
So i put it on, and so far so good. im getting a lil smoke but i cant see it while driving. before it would puff to where i can see it pretty obviously now, cant at all.. between boost shifts there is a lil puff. but thats it...
im still running the 10w30 non synthetic oil.. tommrow im switching to royal purple 10w40 + change some stuff on my drain line.

So basically guys, you need a restrictor on journal bearing turbos.. on our s2ks.. too much oil pressure.
Ill keep everyone who has been watching this thread updated.. ive gotten several pms already...

Journal bearing turbos dont require a restrictor and i wouldnt use one. You need that oil volume in the center section to give a film of oil for the shaft to run on between the journal bearings. Ive had my 60-1 for years with no issues. If you're having smoking issues, its probably due to a poor drain that is backing up and holding too much oil in the center section. This will also cause coking in the turbo. Im willing to bet you have the oil drain in the oil pan. Its a bad spot for draing the oil. It really should be in the skirt just above the pan to insure there is no standing oil, which is in the pan, keeping te drain from working properly.
