Oil drains off the bottom of the turbo due to gravity. There is no oil pressure in that drain line, so if the fitting is tilted down, or there is any uphill path, then oil will back up in the line.

putting a restrictor should solve your problem, if not simply move the return line to the girdle

I took off the pan because I know now that it's my return line. I'm having them move the return to the front like I should have done. Now with this fixed let's talk about the restrictor. I am running -3am feed no restrictor. Inline pro gave me a restrictor but precision said not to use it. So now what?

I'd go with your turbo manufacturer's recommendations.

I have never seen a car that *needs* one. If you think your turbo is getting too much oil and it is smoking, it is because your drain can't support it. Increase the size of the drain if you are having a back up problem due to too much oil. Restricting the oil source on a journal bearing turbo that relies on receiving as much oil as possible is not the right way to fix it.

1slowsi.. i've had very similar issues as urself. I routed the drain line directly under the turbo into the pan and it kinda made sort of a J loop into the pan do to the fitting slightly pointing downwards...

i had the EXACT same issue as yourself. I then had it REtapped to the place where inline pro does theirs and the issue went away. You have the -3 which is exactly what you need.

I got the new return line setup and it looks a lot better. Now check this shit out. I go to pull out a spark plug and notice 2 of my spark plug tube seals/valve cover seals are ripped. Oil made its way down there and soaked my plugs. I know now that the smoke I was seeing was definitely from that and NOT the turbo. Aint that some shit? lol. The return line needed to be changed anyway but thankfully I decided to do this or I would have never pulled my plugs so soon.
