this is a good picture to show the enormous size of the EFR turbo.. and this one is single scroll.

You're also comparing an EWG turbo vs an IWG turbo. They're shorter when you don't use an internal gate housing.

OP stated he wanted IWG.
The draw back of the SOS kit is the hotside design. And no they do not use a t3 twin scroll setup. If they did it would be making a whole lot more power. The issue is that the use a restrictive evo8/9 style twin scroll housing design. Not a t3 twin scroll setup. Because of this this setup will loose 75-200whp on the top end depending on how much boost you run.
I would certainly be interested to see how a setup like this did. I wonder if you removed the oem oil cooler and used an oil filter relocation kit you would have enough room to fit a borg warner EFR turbo..? The actuator arm and bracket for the IWG would obviously need to be moved, but making a new bracket and modifying the rod is trivial if you can get it to fit. The simplicity of an IWG setup is very appealing over an EWG setup. Some people claim to have issues with the IWG regulating boost but that seems to be a problem for many manifolds w/ EWG's as well.

If you can find a way to mount an EFR in a "regular" bottom mount configuration I'd imagine you'd have people interested in it. Having the WG built in reduces costs and plumbing, and just makes the package overall cleaner. I'd say a single scroll t3 turbine housing would be the most popular.
If you're looking for other ideas, SOS makes a kit for the S2k that uses a Mitsu Evo turbine housing with an internal wastegate. I haven't seen it personally, but it fits nicely. The "problem" with this kit seems to be that the dual scroll t3 turbine housing and/or manifold chokes the top end and simply doesn't flow that well. Of course, the EFR turbos are much longer, which I imagine poses the biggest problem. It would certainly be fun to mock up a spot for it and see if it's doable. Here are pictures of the SOS kit:

Mirror image of the Evo 8/9. Evo 8/9 is reverse rotation turbo while the Evo X is regular rotation, hence the mirror image of the flanges. Anyway, it's not the turbine housing that is the issue as guys with Evo Xs are making 550-600whp with bolt-on GTX3576Rs using that exact same turbine housing. The issue with the SOS setup is the manifold. Because their kit keeps the stock S2000 engine mounts, it pushes the turbo up which means there's not space to make a manifold with a gentle bend into the turbo. So the exhaust gas has to make a nasty sharp turn from the manifold into the turbo which is choking off the top-end power. Personally, if doing the SOS kit, I'd do the GTX3071R in the smaller 0.73 A/R turbine housing to maximize spool as the manifold is going to choke off the top-end anyways.
There is one other option I'm considering. Something like this:

My turbine housing will be done for, but in return it will have best of both worlds.
Now if someone can tell me how well SS welds to cast iron?

A member on here steven is running an EFR on a top mount tubular manifold. I have actually been talking to him about doing some testing with my car as well and getting a manifold from him. All billet flange, thick 321 stainless, very very nice manifold unlike 99% of the companies that are out there currently. Short runners for increased spool and response, less prone to cracking. By the sounds of it if you want to do the EFR you should look into this. BOttom mount it will not happen... so either you need to do a custom top mount like steven622 I believe his user name is or full race sells an EFR sidewinder/front mounted manifold as well. Either will work great. Keep in mind with the top mount you will need to have your battery and fuse box fully relocated so if youre not tucked aready just go buy the Full-Race EFR Sidewinder and call it a day. #endrant #discussionover lol http://www.full-race.com/store/efr-t...rbo-kit-1.html
