DIY Custom Shift Boot

DIY Custom Shift Boot
I've seen older posts of guys doing this. I want to start working on my custom interior. I finally got to give this a try. The aftermarket shift boots that you can purchase were a little out of my price range so I figured I'd take a stab at it.
All in all took about 2 hours. That's total removal, sewing and re-install time. Looking forward to this week, I'll hopefully get both doors done.
Tools needed:
2 Pieces of thread - $4 (one bunch was plenty, but I'm going to the doors also)
1 set of curved needles - $4
Total $8

Stock shift boot, removed from center console

First line done
[attachment=63062:IMAG1346.jpg]
Front side finished, looking pretty good

All finished and mounted

Installed back in the car.

Yellow shift knob will be next. Not sure if I'm going w/ moddiction or CR shift knob.

Correct, you aren't rethreading the boot. You are using the colored thread and looping underneath the existing thread. If you look at the close up picture of the shift boot I posted, you can still see the black thread. The yellow thread was looped underneath, which is what holds it in place.
