drone
The best way I can describe it is noise transferred inside the cabin vs out of the cabin. It will make your ears ring if it is bad enough. I know the t1r 70-em dual that I had did this as well as loosened a ton of bolts on the car it was so bad.
Drone is caused by resonance of the exhaust piping. To me it feels like it's blasting the cabin and I can feel the whole car shake. I know some people aren't sensitive to those frequencies (usually ~100-150 Hz) so that's why you get different reports of drone from the same exhaust.
ride in a LT1 camaro with flowmaster super40s. THAT is what drone is. It pulsates at a frequency that somehow seems to vibrate from inside the cabin out. At the worst, it feels like your heads in a balloon and someone is squeezing it at a constant frequency. My drone test is simple. Install two (good) 12" subs. Have it at half power - if your music still sounds like theres no bass - your exhaust f'kin drones.
