You might not have understood: he bought the test pipe instead of a new cat, presumably because his old cap was plugged. THAT's where the 7 hp came from!

You don't pickup up 7 hp on a 200 hp engine by just removing the cat.

My old cat was not plugged. My car ran fine with the cat. I bought the test pipe because I wanted a test pipe. Dyno'd at 199 stock. 206 with the test pipe, 210 with header+test pipe, 217 with header, test pipe, 63mm single.

Although most headers in the market dont make MUCH power over stock, the stock header weighs ALOT. You can save about 15-25 lbs by just swapping it out. J's racing probably has the best header out right now, ive seen up to 6whp gains with it.

The test pipe will also shave a couple of pounds off and should give you at LEAST a 4whp, more if you already have an exhaust.

The stock exhaust is also extremely heavy, I think its almost 60lbs. With a good single exhaust you can see up to 8whp plus a savings of 40lbs. More if you get the expensive titanium ones.

In the end if you go with a good entire exhaust setup (header, test pipe, exhaust). Assuming you get the right parts you can get up to 20whp and save about 80lbs.

tp saves 15-17 pounds so more then a couple pounds, but you will probably only save 15-20 pounds for header not 25, sorry for being anal , but either way i agree with what gbmurder says def get the full exhaust, header back to get the most out of each part

My two cents says 10-15hp and 50 lbs.

The stock header is better than 80% of the aftermarket headers.

There is some power to be had from a 70mm single exhaust compared to the stock system.

I have a T1R TP and it's great! the stock header and exhaust was designed very well....only benefit from getting an exhaust and header would be to save weight unless you go over 400whp.

get the HFC, i don't think it weights much different from TP, maybe 2 lbs... no smell, not have to worry being towed...it has a carb number on it too. $100 vs $250 with all the hassle?

i went with the HFC.
The only people that say this are people that have not ran a test pipe. Ive been pulled over many times and not once has a cop said 'Hmm you smell like your running a test pipe can I check under your car?'. The smell is always blown out of proportion.

The power and lbs saved are always going to vary. Get the right parts and you CAN see up to 20whp. I myself gained 18whp. And thats with a 63mm single and a berk header which is known to not be so good up top.

With a full titanium exhaust and now even some titanium headers you can also have some serious weight loss.

the HFC weighs 7 pounds more then the tp not 2.
I've never actually heard of anyone getting pulled over for testpipe it jsut smells like your running rich.

I tend to agree the smell is blown otu of proportion but i have been in a testpipe s2k and dont like the smell but i have very low tolerances its not as bad many people dont even notice.

What are you talkin about ??.

What about the Extra 15whp that ppl are gettin with a decent Exhaust/Header setup..

I have a Invidia 70mm Testpipe + T1R-70EM Single, I didn't Dyno the car yet but i raced alot of other S2k's..
Some stock, some with a CAI and i put 3-4 car lenghts on them...you cant even compare the top end power

J's Header is Next..
