Default Need your opinion on intakes

Just bought a ap2 06 s2k.

i want to start simple before getting anything crazy. but most importantly i wanna do things right the first time around. i don't want to buy something and eventually find out i have replace it with something else.

i've been looking around at s2k intakes and i see so many types of intakes.

Here is what i've been thinking......(also guys...feel free to comment and give me suggestions on what has worked well for you guys)

1. AEM V2 cold air - AEM is a good company but i've been hearing alot of s2ks hydrolock from this intake.

2. arc intake box - not really efficent cause its still taking the hot air

3. spoon intake scoop - looks good to me since its using the stock box and all and just takes colder air and it forces air into the box. and get a Kn&n filter

4. leaving it stock and cutting a hole in the hood (but obviously makeing it look nice) and just forcing in the air like that and just use a kn&n filter

.........i dunno about injen or other intakes.........

if u guys have suggestions and past experience on these products or other products...let me know what works best for you guys.

this topic has been discussed ALOT buut imma go ahead and just tell u that you cant go wrong with a FIPK intake...no chance of hydrolock unless you go mudding or something ...ive had mine on for 20K+ miles already and have had no problems at all... sounds at WOT as well...any way...guud luck

I have had my AEM V2 on my S since about a month after I purchased the car. I have had no problems, I DD the car, and over the last winter I had no issuses. Here in the northwest we are known for the water coming from the sky and we got our fair share.

You still have to be smart as well you can go forging threw giant puddles, no matter what cold air intake you have or what type of car you will most likely cause some damage.

GL on whatever you choose!

well depends on what you want. K&N FIPK is a great intake but i had some problems with heat soak while launching. so i went with a snorkel and K&N filter. its not the best power gainer as the FIPK but it launches better. but i have to say, at rolling speed the K&N has alot of power.

I'd head towards a different mod, personally.

I love my ARC intake. I got the AUT cooling panel, ripped out all that oem plastic air blockage crap. Dyno'ed my car 4 times on a 95 degree humid as all hell day. My 4th pull was just as strong as my first. I don't buy into this heat crap.

Oem is good. Just slap on a snorkal of your choice. I personally chose the carbon Kevlar spoon style snorkel because it uses the stock intake, easy to install, relatively cheap, looks good and it works.
