I tried vinyl repair, and it just ripped the first time i put the top back.

I sewed the rip, put an iron on patch on the inside, and glue from REI that you use to seal tent seams on top of the stitching outside. Not the cleanest looking repair, but it holds strong.

I've used "Mend It" to glue patches on the inside of my top and this has worked very well.
You can find it on e-bay, or just look around the net.
Jake

Sorry what I used was called "Tear Mender" adhesive, you can find it on the net.

You know what also works very well is Liquid Electrical Tape! I have used it on tears in my snowmobile seat and it holds up very good!
But now that I'm a new owner of a 2007 S2000 without any rips in my top, what can I do to prevent it from happening?

I just bought some stuff off of ebay called Tear-Aid..... type B for vinyl. Got a 3 in. by 10 ft. roll fairly cheap

I noticed a spot on the verge of tearing through. Put this on the inside yesterday and now giving it time for the adhesive to cure. It's clear and suppose to be pretty flexible and durable. Real easy to use: cut to shape, peel & stick.

We'll see... if it does a good job I'm just going to hit all the stretch and tear prone points for good measure.

Yeah that is the same stuff I used. its held up really well so far. Just make sure to smooth the metal part that rubs on the top so you dont have it rubbing a hole again.
