Custom intake length
I have done a lot of research on custom intakes recently and have decided to make one of my own. I've been contemplating between a k&n style 3.5" with velocity stack (roughly 24" long) and a 3.5" cai into the pass bumper area (roughly 42" long). I've decided to go with 3.5" diameter because i have read that 3" starts to choke the engine above 210whp. I should be in the 225-235 range depending on dyno. And yes this intake will be paired with a bored oem throttle body to 70mm and a matched manifold. I've read a couple threads about people tuning different length intakes to see what length provided the best gains but there was never a definitive answer. So my questions are.....
Is there a certain length that provides the best gains or is the longer the better? Would the longer cai have better gains in the entire rpm range? Does the length of cai hinder throttle response? Would there be any benefits to go with k&n style over cai?
Thanks in advance for any info

Best person to answer this for you would be B.R.I.A.N (username) he is a well known tuner in south FL and has dyno tested many different setups ..he also advises that our motor's like the k series like long tubed intake setup.
