Damaged Valve Guides - What to do?
#11
There is a process for removing and replacing the valve guides spelled-out in the Honda service manual for the S2000.
Some cars do not have valve guides that are removable/replaceable, they are simply cast with the head and then the hole machined (old domestic heads mostly I think). I wonder if the shop thought the S2000 had this type of valve guide. Some Machine shops can take cylinder heads like that and machine them to put replaceable valve guides in.
A few years back I had the exhaust valve guides replaced on a cylinder head for my old CRX without any issues, done by a local machine shop.
Maybe it would be better to know how the valves were bent, was the engine over-revved?
Perhaps this will help answer the question as to why the shop told you the head is damaged.
