Round 5 is in the books! It was a beautiful day out in the desert. Clear cool temps led to some fast session 1 times. Too bad the wind picked up early and added some challenges after the morning sessions. So much wind that we had a few EZE-Ups enter the front straight during Red 2 spoiling some hot laps and ruining the pre-gridding. Even with those distractions every class winners times were set in the second session! Here is how the action shook out.

Stock class had three competitors and a relatively tight fight for the top spot. 3rd place went to Mike Mulloy with a 1:32.822. Second place was Jorge (I’ve yet to make the awards ceremony) Trujillo with a 1:30.430. Top spot was Sung Kim with a 1:30.048. It was a pleasure watching Sung fling his stock S2K around the skid pad with beautiful 4 wheel drifts on exit lap after lap. Great driving guys!

Street class 6 competitors. This was the closes podium of the day with less than .4 covering 1st – 3rd. 6th spot and 1st track day ever was Johnny Vo with a 1:42.934. No doubt Johnny will get faster since he’s only had his S2K for a few weeks. 5th place went to our 2 wheel veteran Tom Sera with a 1:36.791. 4th place was Jason Woan in his “too nice to track Berlina CR” with a 1:29.025. 3rd place was Joshua Kim with a 1:28.725. 2nd was Yukio Kishimoto with a 1:28.597. Top spot went to SOWS champ Ryan LaFontaine with a 1:28.337! That’s some great competition!

Mod class had 5 competitors. 5th place was Adan Calderon with a 1:30.418. Very respectable for his first time at SOWS in this direction. 4th place was Dustin Dessero (Driving Adans car) with a SBF time of 1:27.370. Not bad for a big guy in a little guys race seat. 3rd place went to Thee Ted Park with a 1:26.489. Barely edging out Ted by a tenth, was Ryan Delgrosso with a 1:26.375. Top spot went to Rockstar Garage’s own Justin (J Money) Taylor with a money lap of 1:25.903.

Super Mod had 4 competitors. 4th spot went to Yanfeni Lopez with a 1:32.962. 3rd place was Miguel Castaneda with a 1:32.303. This was both Yanfeni and Miguel’s first time at SOWS in this direction. Nice work guys! 2nd place went to Dylan Huig with a 1:25.111. Great lap! Top spot went to David Lara with a boosted time of 1:23.223. Congrats to all the Supermod competitors.

Also thanks to Lucas oil for providing some lubrication four our class winners. Diff, motor and detail kits are much appreciated!!!

Stay tuned for round 6 which will be at ACS on August 11th! Enjoy the summer break!!!

Thanks to Maxxis tires, Rockstar garage, Hot lap io, Trackspec Motorsports, Stoptech and Lucas oil!
