I see your point guys, but honestly, there was nothing else Canton could have done in test fitting. Nobody else volunteered to send a block, send a tranny, or drive a car to their facilities. I'm sure if Canton was in SoCal, a dozen or more guys would have drove their cars their and they would have happily test fitted everything on AP1's, AP2's, with and with stock clutches and flywheels and whatever else you can think of.
All good Dave, it was just a comment, not necessarily too serious. I think you're looking into what people are saying about the pan a little too much. If people don't want to install their pan right away, I'm sure they have their reasons. There's nothing wrong w/ waiting a little bit for more info to trickle out. No one's saying the pan is a dud or isn't happy that a pan exists, just that there are minor quibbles.. which is to be expected.
yeah...I know Slowteg...sigh....

I've got no issues with guys waiting to see what all the little details may turn out to be, but when they just keep complaining about these minor things, over and over, even when it's been explained to them that these seemingly innocent complaints can make or break some other manufacturers willingness to make something for our cars in the future....well, it's just beyond me. I can see a situation were the president or GM of some other company is thinking about making a part, looks at the complaining of things in this thread, and then just says "uh, forget it. We won't make much on it, and we'll have to deal with a bunch of people complaining about little sh-t." I explain this to these guys, but then they can't be silent, and then they just have to have the last word and bring it up again! They don't see the big picture about what their comments can indirectly do.

Ultimately there are always complainers in every facet of life. It is what it is and I'm sure mfrs are fully aware that they will always exist and there's nothing you can do about it. I doubt they'd get scared off by a select few. No need to stress about it.

I'd like to file a complaint. I didnt ask for Canton decals on my pan

On a more serious note, I can take photos of my AP2 will the flywheel cover removed and a straight edge against the bellhousing to see what if anything is sticking out.

Ya the extra weight isn't appreciated..

If you could that'd be great, I guess when I eventually get around to installing mine I'll take pictures of things since there seems to be some variations.

So there does look there is a difference between years but judging by those two photos alone, it seems like there will be interference either way.
Gotcha, I did some quick poking around and found some images for comparison (these are looking at the "back" of the flywheel):

AP1 OEM:

AP2 OEM:

F1 racing- lightweight ~11 lbs:

It's hard to be sure by looking at pictures but the AP2 flywheel looks to have more material on the back of the flywheel than the AP1. This could be the problem for those with an AP2 and the OEM flywheel. Depending how close the flywheel is to the cover, it might not be a terrible idea to space it out with a couple washers to give it another mm or so of clearance.

People complaining about the Corvette interior isn't what caused them to finally make a good one. Come on....It's had a crappy interior for 31 years, ever since the C4 came out. About a half million have been made since then. If they cared about customers complaining, they would have done it decades ago.

And it would still have a crappy interior if people weren't willing to pay more for a good one.

Alright, I removed my flywheel cover on my MY06 which has an AP1 OEM flywheel. After roughly 1000 miles there were no apparent marks indicating flywheel contact.
