Canton pan thoughts here
Best advice for installing the pan is just be liberal w/ the RTV. I was quite liberal with it and don't think I have a leak (I'll have to look closely again). The catch can splooging oil everywhere makes it hard for me to tell, but I'm pretty sure I don't have a leak.
I know someone else local that installed the pan, and had to remove it and reinstall it because it leaked a little. Just used some extra RTV 2nd time around and that did the trick.

Yep, I did the same. Also, for those who haven't installed a pan before. Brake cleaner is your friend. Make sure the mating surfaces are very clean and free of oil/crud. This allows the rtv to bond to the metal surfaces and helps it seal. One of the rear corners where the oil keeps draining can be a bit of a pain, but if you work quick in between drips you should be able to get the pan on w/o much oil hitting the rtv at that spot.

Who gives a f*ck what it's called?
Back on topic.. yamahasho clearly has a valid concern and I'd be pissed if my welds crapped out on me and it caused problems.. It seems canton has some QC issues. I'm not sure why you need constantly run to their defense dave just because you lobbied to have the product created..

Yeah...you're right. My apologies.
so i am the one who had the weld break. i can try and post the video up later ( or yamahasho can post it).
i had the pan on all season, it had a small leak that was getting progressively worse, so i removed it to re seal it. i put a straight edge on it and found where it was leaking to be a low spot. i hit it with a hammer to get it close to where it should be.
as far as the broken weld. on the back of the pan there is a welded tab that holds the slosh plate. the plate is bolted to this tab and the welds broke right in half. it is still bolted to the baffel area but now the plate is loose on the back side. luckily it was a clean break, what if it wasnt and i had a piece go into the pickup. i could have lost a motor from the part i installed to fix that very same issue.

i have not contacted canton yet, i just found it this weekend. im curious as to what they would even do. are they gonna want me to ship it to them so they can fix it and ship it back? i can just as easily fix it myself.
