I guess that may be true. I have seen some other posts were they were recommending XR3 fronts and XR5 rear combination.....go figure.

Guess it depends who you talk to over there, also it appears that the XR5 is a newer compound than the GTS.

Just ordered the XR2 front and XR5 rears.....I am running 245/275 combo so figured may need a little more bit than the GTS in the rears....we shall see

since the XR2 work best with high temparatures (track temps) do you guys use brake cooling ducts while running these pads? Or would cooling the pads via cooling ducts be a negative effect?

Are you guys running the stock shims with these pads????

that's what I was thinking. The sole purpose of the shims is to reduce noise? They have no other role?

Noise is the main thing. The inner shim is doubled up, the shiny one acts as a partial heatshield. Though race pads run at much higher temps than OEM pads.
