I can't explain it all at the moment but it's all right here

I'm not sure why people are so hell bent on keeping vacuum on the crankcase, and capping one port of the crankcase seems like a bad idea IF you can simply vent it. Throw another breather filter on the pcv location and call it a day if you really don't want to run a catch can. The crankcase can develop a lot of pressure and more vents = more ways to vent the pressure. Just because you think clamping/capping off the OEM pcv location is enough or works for you doesn't necessarily make it right.

alright, baffle installed, catch cans installed. Valve cover was modified in a different method from what i expected. my fabricator made an anti slosh plate, it still retains all its air flow while blocking oil from splashing in. i havent installed it yet, or taken any pics. figure if it works, let him sell it. plan is to do a few 100 miles, drain the cans and see which one fills up. get a rough estimate for how much it fills up per x amount of miles, then install the new vc and compare. then compare at the track.

overall the car feels slightly faster, though it could be the cooler air.

After doing this, I accumulated about a 10 fluid ounces of oil in my catch can after 7 25 minute sessions over two days at road america. This was with my canton oil pan and my thermostat controlled canton oil cooler as well.

I had issues at blackhawk farms a month before road america. I overfilled my catchcan after 2 laps. I had an unmodified valve cover and a low capacity catch can at the time. I should also mention BHF Ive always had issues with oil escaping. I have yet to go back to BHF after the VC mod, but if I did I would not be scared to do so.

So people who are drilling the valve cover baffle, how do you clean out the metal shavings underneath or remove the baffle and reinstall it? I got some oil coming out of the stock pcv location (it's just vented to atmosphere), so I think it's time I add some holes to the stock baffle to help the oil drain.

;p they dont. you can play around with an aircompressor all day.will it get everything out? no way of knowing till you shave down all the rivets.

well after 300 miles of mixed city/highway driving my cans have not collected squat. kinda makes me believe the oil pan baffle is helping, somehow. not sure.

(setup - moroso oil pan baffle, moroso baffled catch cans.)

i'll leave the stock vc on for now, and i'll switch it at the track. I cant really compare anything until i encounter the problem, find a way to replicate it, have it happen a few times, collect the oil from the cans and reset with the new valve cover. compare results etc etc etc.

I'll be running an open track event this weekend, i'm shooting for 300+ track miles so i'll have some updates next week.

Running 1:24-1:23 at Roebling=no oil consumption. 1:21 and it was a mosquito fogger by T4.

i ended up switching my valvecover this week. i didnt want to, but i didnt want to work on a hot engine either. I saw billman yank my vc in 5 mins, but i also saw him do my rear diff mount in 30.... which took me 3/4 hours. so i changed it because i didnt want to be flustered at the track / lose track time. I'll update this this week.

for my 350 street miles. neither can collected anything. squat. we'll see what the track brings tomorrow.

did 250 track miles today. didnt puff a single cloud. ZERO oil in my catch cans, still spotless from out the box.

in my 250 track miles, i did burn 400ml of oil. i'll chalk that up to my 9000rpms of glory. (i still shift at 85. no sense killing the motor.)

also, there was a guy with an ap2, ap2 vc, radium catch can off the stock pcv, vented atmosphere port, and i'd see him lose power and smoke trying to keep up with me through the esses/curbs. he also filled his can through out his day. not sure on how many miles he did.

i'll talk to my fabricator this week and get the ball rolling on what he wants to do. He already sells parts for vw/audi guys, has a site, etc etc etc. the only question is, does he want to sell "honda" parts.
