Laptimer anyone?
For those of you who are interested, I put a post up in the group-buy section. There is a laptimer available that is a lot better than anything else out there in that price range.
Here's the link to the group buy thread. It's for the My Chron Light unit. This is the unit that I've been using in my car and I'm very pleased with its performance.
Here are some comments:
I paid $220 shipped for my unit (purchased late November 2002).
The cord between the receiver and display is pretty short. It works in the S2000, but may not work in other larger cars. I mount the receiver on velcro attached just above the bottom of my windshield (on the inside of the car
) and mount the display to the A/C vent on the right side of the instrument cluster with a couple of tie-wraps.
At Roebling Road the unit worked perfectly with the transmitter on low power (internal AA batteries). At Sebring, the in-car unit did not consistently pick up the transmitter when on low power. I now use a $20 gel cell (Batteries Plus) with the transmitter on high power and it is entirely reliable.
The folks at AIM (USA distributors) have given me excellent customer support.
The instruction sheet that I received is very poorly translated, but I was able to figure out all of the functions and settings.
The transmitter is not compatible with Intercomp and Longacre units.
It does not have downloadable capabilities like the Intercomp unit.
If anyone has any more questions fire away.
