Should a stock s2000 avoid going to tracks in the summertime? Sorry, kinda need a cliffs notes.
You'll be fine stock, IMO.
My car is stock and was in no way fine when ambient temps crept up past 100 on a short track (low airspeed, low gears, high rpms).

Will the car survive? With a good oil choice and a watchful on the gauges, yes. Will it run whole sessions without the heater running and temp creeping, probably not.

Two things worth noting. Our cars don't have screens on the front bumper. I was getting uncharacteristically high coolant temps one day. I removed the bumped, and went to town on the radiator and A/C condenser with a stainless steel brush, cleaning out dead bugs, leaves, and other debris. Made a world of a difference. Also, I know that Nam achieved great results by simply adding/improving on the OEM ducting. I would recommend both (don't cost anything) before spending $ on upgrades.

I'd like to add that I started getting heat issues as my AC condenser got banged up over time. It was literally blocking the bottom half of the radiator (and where most of the airflow would normally be directed). After replacing with a fresh AC condenser, all my problems disappeared, even on 115F+ days.

You should definitely be fine. As I mentioned in my post, I was at Thunderhill in 105+ degree heat with zero problems at all throughout the day.

On a side note. Has anyone else had a windshield crack due to suction cupped lap timer or something else attached via suction cup? I had a lap timer on the inside of my windshield all day (recently replaced). When I pulled it off at the end of the day and broke the vacuum seal, it cracked the windshield very badly. I didn't just yank the lap timer off, I pretty carefully pulled off the suction cup.

Something else worth watching out for I guess? Pretty strange.

Your windshield might not be OEM. That's my only guess.

When getting it replaced I actually researched quite a bit and made sure to get a windshield made by the same company that makes the OEM windshield with "Honda" stamped on it. AP Tech which is made by AGC and has all the same branding and labeling as the "Honda" stamped windshield. My windshields do take quite a bit of abuse and like most other S2000s develop pitting pretty quickly. Maybe I just happened to play the suction cup over an area that already had a very small crack? That is what I am thinking now. I guess I will just be more careful with the placement next time and remove it even more carefully.

I attend events which are perpetually hot as I go to Malaysia. Track temps are /scorching >40 deg C sometimes climbing way higher. I drive for 20-30mins at a go with windows up so the moment I get out of the car I rehydrate. I think I lose a couple of liters at a go

For the car, get as much cooling overkill that u can. Big oil cooler, big radiator, coolant additive, fan control via your hondata... Less heat = more power & better longevity of parts in my view.

Btw, the one off 111F you experienced is what I get almost every session. The heat and sun is so bad it literally "bites" your skin
Have you considered not living in Singapore?
Don't even get me started. psychoazn keeps telling me I should move to a country that has at least one track. Might be easier than waking up at 6 am, spending an hour clearing customs then continuing on for a 350 km drive up for a 4 hour track day then making another 350 km drive back with another round of customs clearing, finally reaching home at almost 9pm.

I think you're more hardcore than a lot of us here....

As long as I keep well hydrated and take cat naps its actually ok. One time I went to a track day when track temps were >50 deg C and u could see drivers retiring faster than the cars did!

Sorry to barge in on your thread here, I don't track but am trolling heat threads trying to find what might be recommended to deal with some heat related issues in my Sc'ed car. I just picked up a fan switch and Full Blown radiator today. But wondering do any of you have a ceramic coat on the header and does it make a difference? Local shop does it here and it is only $250 so I though it would be part of my winter tinkering.

Shoot krazik a PM. He made it work during racing, so if you can get the car to run that cool you should be solid for pretty much anything. Not promising its going to be cheap though
