Thumbs up Next mod for AutoX

I'm interested in opinions:

My current setup:
2001 S2000 w 55,000 miles
Hoosier A6 225/245
Comptech FSB
Aligment: -1.4 f camber (maxed), -2.3 r camber
Cobalt GT sport pads
Everything else is stock

My question, if I'm operating on a budget of $1000 - $1500 (and can only do one of the following), what should I do to improve my car:

1. JDM wheels
2. Lightweight Exhaust
3a. New OE shocks
3b. New aftermarket shocks
4. Something else

Thanks!

NOS ?!

On a more serious note...do you have to brake a lot for your auto x or is it more of a constant speed.

If you have to brake and accellerate a lot, put an aftermartket exhaust for teh weight savings

Nice run.

To be honest I dont think any of these mods would give you a considerable advantage (if your OEM shocks a re still good)

It all adss a very little but just for 1 mod woudnt do much in my opinion.

Lighter is always better

I found myself driving with more confidence once I got some Koni yellow (OTS) and a good alignment. Before this, my MY01 seemed to not let me oversteer much without going into a 180. I can't say that it was directly responsible for improving my times, but it at least enabled me to push and hold things at the limit longer.

However, I do have 1, 2, and 3b. (4 would be my MaxQData)

Just my $.02

If you're itching to buy some more car prep definately get some revalved konis. Call Koni and ask for Lee Grimes. Tell him you want some of the new auto-x specific revalves. They'll totally calm the car down in transitions. You'll smile the frist time you feel it in a slalom.

The best bang for your buck before that would be:

Lose the shift beeper. It's totally messing with your concentration. It's also making you shift too soon. I feel like there is another 1000 rpms left. It really sounds like you're shifting at 8k.

Scoot your seat forwand a couple clicks. Your arms are too outstretched and it's causing some odd hand work.

May the force be with you.

1. Cheap route ...
-drivers school (seat time)
-play with your alignment and tire pressures

2. My route ...
-Custom built Konis
-V710s/Hoosiers
-FSB
-Ask everyone for advice & tips!
-drivers school (seat time)

3. National guy's route ...
-every legal mod available
-auto-x every weekend (well, as much as possible)

So theres a bit of sarcasm in there, but I think the point is obvious. In three years, I will end up doing all three categories! I guess it comes with the addiction...

I have a shift beeper (Modifry's initial offering) which comes on at 8700 RPM. In 1st gear, if you're ready for it, you'll just miss hitting the rev limiter by waiting for the tone before shifting. In 2nd gear, there's more time needed for the last 300 RPM so it's not as critical.

I found that I needed it because I was consistently short-shifting trying to "shift by ear". It just happens to fast in 1st to not use one...

The fuel cut makes an awesome shift indicator and you're definately going to get it all out of your motor.

I'd choose (or rather, did choose in your situation) the shocks. The adjustable damping will not only be faster than stock, but will allow you to tune the car for each particular course.
