Yeah I can see where it can become a slippery slope so it's unlikely it would ever get approved anyway. My current plan is to buy another diff and equip that with an OSGiken as well as standby so hopefully if it breaks, I'll be up and running by the next event while I go through this perpetual cycle of fixing things. Realistically I'm going to be attended 3 Pros this year and possibly the finale. The rest of the time my car will not be launched and I won't be taking on a codriver to minimize wear.

To me an open diff rule is exactly that ... if taking apart the diff to put in a clutch type is considered a "bolt on" then the rest is too. We are already tearing it apart and replacing the main parts inside. Keep the restriction to OEM gearing, locations, etc though. The transmission is a separate issue.

Although it would be nice to have a bit stronger parts in the rear end I don't see a problem with carrying spares. At $100 bucks for used OEM axle. Its not a bad deal and I can personally tell you that in most cases the aftermarket ones are weaker. The diff can be had used for $500 all day long and although it won't have a osgiken in it. Its only 20 minutes to swap so not bad at all. BTW new ring/pinion set ordered and car should be back together in the next week or two

20 minutes to swap a diff? Shit, remind me to find you if mine breaks. I don't think I've ever seen it changed that fast...especially if you have stiff diff mounts that make it hard to wiggle it around.

I actually do think cryo in the tranny should be legal too. I mean for FWD cars, when you pop in a diff aren't you cracking open the tranny anyway?

Yeah about 20-25 min. BTW car has innovative mounts. It helps if you have the right tools! And quick drop of rear exhaust section and rear swaybar frame mounts makes a lot easier. Only unbolt axles at the flanges and remove the diff from the rear carrier bracket. Pull the 8 rear diff subframe bolts and pull that out to the back but leave the carrier and loosen the carrier studs instead. Leave the front diff mounts on and just remove the 4 19mm bolts and then push to one side remove opposite axle and then push back the other way for the other axle. BTW just realized we removed in about 20 minutes because the diff is still out. But I think complete swap would be about 45 minutes with the right tools and sequence. Which reminds me that there will be some additional tools that will need to be added to my toolbox for events

Speaking of legality, are you guys who are removing their soft tops putting in the CR tonneau cover? It's bolted on so it's pretty clear it's not just something that can be removed. Same for that reinforcement that goes where the soft top is.

By the way, I'm going to have both a rollbar and a soft top on my car so hopefully no one protests the slight notching I'm going to do on my bulk head to clear my harnesses and the half a pound I'm going to save by doing that.

Yeah, I forgot we already had that conversation. Still a bit confused with how update/backdate works with regard to that stuff.
