For everyone that felt racing was a worthy way to spend Mother day, welcome home!!! It was a gorgeous day at Streets of Willow where 9 drivers turned up to drive in round 4 of the 2017 Maxxis Tires S2k Challenge because any racers Mom will be ok with it if youre late to dinner but carrying a gold medal!
Early morning temps showed high 60's with a brisk wind chill and slick track but soon that gave way to an amazing day of racing.
In Super Mod solo veteran driver Walter Chen showed up to prove what 8 day old RC1's were capable of with a 1:29.040. Nice drive Walter!
Mod class bosted a strong contingent with 4 drivers. 1st place honors were cinched by Ryan Delgrosso with a red 2 run of 1:26.442. 2nd place went to Erik Kwon stepping up from Street to Mod class with a 1:27.984 while 3rd place was cinched by Andre Fruktow in his debbut event with a 1:29.338. 4th was grabbed by Michael Zambrano in his almost too pretty to drive car with a 1:35.281
Street class....the battle.... Returning to Willow sprngs from round 1's astonishing debut victory was William Jang. Towing all the way from Oakland fresh off his victory at round 3 Buttonwillow where William was absent, Sohan Kota. These guys were absoltely neck and neck all day long, often within hundredths of each other. Finally managing to find time in the warmth of session 3 Sohan found the extra time needed and pulled ahead to cinch 1st place with a 1:28.474 to Williams 1:29.442. Rounding out the podium with a 1:31.356 set in the cool air of green 2 was Wei Roan, while returning challenge veteran with a hall-pass to play from his wife was Fernando Muga with a 1:32.083
